It is raining so hard now and beating against the windows and the roof. We have a lot of sky lights and a huge garden/dining room combination that has 6 big skylights and the whole east side of the roof in the room is windows..........so we really hear it. It's absolutely coming down in buckets.

We're expecting a huge storm, the coast will receive up to 75 mph winds and rain, extremely heavy tonight and tomorrow.

Rain here is a constant thing, Shelly lives in Seattle and we've talked about it before. (I sure wish she would join us here.)

The leaves are beautiful, absolutely beautiful, and it's sort of cozy when it's raining like this. It makes me want to bake or cook something wintery like. I have stew on the stove simmering and french bread in the oven. My husband was so surprised he asked what had gotten into me. I can't just sit............... it's too hard and I think too much.

Dear Jane,
Hun, could you send some of that rain my way? NC is dry as a bone. The boats are literally sitting on some of the greenest grass I have ever seen that has sprouted on what use to be the bottom of a reservoir. My sister's friend drove his truck around the reservoir the other week. DRY! DRY! DRY!
I actually love the sound of rain. My favorite moment is right before the storm hits, the smell of rain, dark clouds in the distance getting darker and darker, and a good romance/mystery book! In the home I grew up in, we had a glass wall and half our roof was a skylight with clear glass...it was beautiful! We lived in the middle of the woods. That is actually the home I met Craig in :) Thank you for bringing me down memory lane Jane. They say we are going to get some rain tomorrow, but I won't believe it until I see it. It has been much cooler though, which I am thankful for.
Hugs,
Lynda

Well, the cooler weather was here for a little bit, but now it's hot AGAIN!!! They are saying this weekend that we're supposed to have rain, but like Lynda said, I'll believe it when I see it. I live in Pennsylvania and it is dry here too. I live about 3-4 blocks away from the Susquehanna River, and it is very, very low. The leaves are beginning to turn...absolutely beautiful.

Hi Jane, yesterday was cool and drizzled rain here. This morning it was perfect. And this afternoon it was hot! But the good part about living in Texas is if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes and it'll change. Oh so true! Tonight it feels great outside again.
Love, Cindy

ps. You know I love the rain...it's Melodies from Heaven!

Tonya,

where in Pennsylvania do you live? I lived for four years in a little suburb of Philadelphia, Narberth..........do you know where that is?

And Cindy, I lived in Houston in 1971 for one year. My first husband did his post doctorate there at Baylor at the Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences. Where do you live in Texas?

We moved from Seattle to Houston after my first husband finished his doctorate and after Houston we moved to Philadelphia and he went to work for what was then "Smith Kline & French" They've changed the name several times since then. They produce medications but my husband was in basic research.

We got a divorce while we were living in Pennsylvania and I returned home to Washington State to be be near my family. They've all since pretty much passed away except some nieces & nephews.

But, originally..........I was born in Tennessee as was my entire family. My dad worked at Alcoa Aluminum in Tennessee and when Reynolds Aluminum built a plant here in Washington they went back south to Alcoa to hire workers to start up this plant. As the war ended (WW II) my brothers all came out here and worked at Reynolds.

Strangely enough, after I got my divorce and returned to Washington....... I met an engineer who worked at Reynolds also and married him. Alcoa then bought out Reynolds and they closed down this plant......... put 905 families out of work. My husband was one of the lucky ones......... he was old enough to retire. I had to work 6 more years.

Life has a way of coming back around after it takes you so far away from home.

Just wondering about us........

love you all,
jane

Hi Jane, small world after all huh? I live right in the middle of Texas in a little town called Goldthwaite with a pop. of 1800. I'm about 4 hours from Houston. I live almost exactly halfway between Austin and Abilene. I've never lived anywhere but Texas and I hope it stays that way. I like it here, crazy weather and all.
With a name like "Outlaw" I'm a Texan through and through!
Love, Cindy
