Post subject:  Update on Lucy

Lucy went into surgery for the second time this morning at 8:00am. They finished at 10:45am and said everything went fine. The doctor says her knee cap will stay together and in place this time, so it SHOULD be the final surgery.

They put her in a real cast this time, and cut a hole above the knee so she can ice it and for observation. She's in a lot of pain and trying to get it under control.

She's going to stay the night at the hospital at least tonight, and maybe tomorrow. We are going to visit her after work this evening. I will update again once I know more. Thank you all!

Thank you Drea,

I've had Lucy on my mind all morning and wondering how she's doing. I'm so glad it's all over, but the darn pain starts all over again now.

She's been through so much, my heart just aches for her. Loosing her precious Laura and then getting hurt, surgery and now another surgery.......... she's ready for a break from problems. She needs some "coasting" time to soothe her broken heart and mend her body.

Please give her my love and telling her I talked to God about her today.

Love,
jane

I just spoke with Lucy again. She is still in the hospital and doesn't know when she'll be able to go home. She's in a lot of pain, and they're having a hard time controlling it since she is no longer on
IV.

She has Butterscotch with her. Butterscotch is a stuffed animal kitty Laura got for her when she had surgery two years ago. She ties the call or pain button around it's neck so it doesn't slip off the bed. I was happy to see Butterscotch sitting by her side again for this surgery.

She sends her love and thanks to all of you for thinking of her! :)

I wish she could just come home and be able to walk and move again. It's hard to see her stuck in "bed" all day. You feel so helpless but there's nothing you can do.

Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. I am continuing to recover slowly. They have me on long and short acting morphine for pain and I do tire easily. Tomorrow I will have my first post-op visit and I am sure they will x-ray to be sure it worked this time. I will let you know what he said when I get home.
