Post subject:  Jo Ann's email to Last-Memories

Hello everyone,
I do not know how anyone else feels about this but this is the email I just sent last-memorials.
Love to all,
Jo Ann

Dear Last-Memories,

I just received this email from you. While I realize that this is a voluntary service, and one must sign up to activate it, I have to tell you that I am appalled that this service is even being offered at last-memories. This service is tacky, undignified, opportunist, and the epitome of poor taste. I am stunned that anyone would even consider trying to get donations for the death of their loved one.

Please make sure there is never a mistake and my precious daughter's site (www.krystal-long-duss.last.memories.com) never has this "service" added. This tacky, appalling, uncouth "service" would tarnish my daughter's precious memory .

Dear Madam/Sir

Website www.last-memories.com has again prepared for you new service. From now on you can add a Family donation button to your website and so be able to receive a Donation in Memory of a Loved one from the visitors of your website.

If you would like to use this service you need to activate it in the editing section of your website. All donations will be recorded and will be sent to your PayPal account on monthly basis. You will also receive detailed information who did send you donation and how much it was.

This service is again free of charge from www.last-memories.com (charges from www.paypal.com may apply). So if you want to use this new service all you need to do is log in to your website, go to editing section and activate this service in OTHER SERVICES tab. In lower part of this tab is option to activate this service.
With regards, team of www.last-memories.com
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at: support@last-memories.com

With deep concern over this so called "service",
Jo Ann Webb, Krystal Duss's Mom

Jo Ann,
I can understand how you feel but can I just say something and please not make you upset at me? I will never use this service but I think maybe it is for people to make donations in memory of your child that might go for things like scholarships or The American Cancer Society or such. In B.J.'s memory it could be for The National Kidney Foundation since that is what the cause of his death was. Or to give to MADD or some other program in an effort to somehow prevent the death of more innocent children. Do you see what I'm saying? I don't think it's meant to be used to just collect money over the death of our children.
Like I've said, I will never use it but I have had people ask if there was an organization they could donate money to in memory of B.J.
If my way of thinking is all wrong then I'm sorry. I was just hoping to help you see it in the way I think it was probably meant to be used.
I'm really sorry it has upset you so much. And yes you have every right to make it known how you feel.
Sending you gentle hugs, Cindy

Hi Cindy,

I see what you are saying, and I understand.

But I think if someone wanted to give a donation then they could send a personal message to the site owner and ask about what the family may need or which charity or cause to give a donation to. But to put a place for Donations and to even accept Pay Pal on our loved one's site seems totally tacky, undignified and the epitome of poor taste. I find it totally appalling.

Viva La Difference in Opinion, Dear Cindy,
Love to you,
Jo Ann

Dear Last-Memories Administration,

Thank you for the reply. I understand your position.

I have stated my opinion, and I understand yours. I truly do not want to spend any more energy, thought or time on this subject. So lets please just agree to disagree. Those who wish to use this new service most certainly can. Those who do not wish to use this service do not have to use it. It is an individual decision. Viva La Difference!

So now lets put our energies, thoughts and time into what this forum is about - helping each other somehow create a "new normal" in a world without our treasured loved
one(s).

Sincerely,
