Post subject:  I thought I was better

I am 34. My dad died on August 27th, 2009 of a drug overdose. He was a retired police detective. I found his body. He did not look peaceful. However, I went through the gamut of PTSD and general mourning of the loss. It's heinous to lose anyone you love. I've been doing a lot better, for a month or so. It comes and goes, as everyone here must know. But theses last 4 to 6 weeks have been markedly better. Then today I picked up some guns he'd willed to me, and I'm back on boogie street. I feel terrible. Please help?

Hi,
Grief is hard and sometimes when you think life is getting back to as normal as it can be, it hits you again.
I lost my Mom in 2003, then my Sister in 2004. I went to a local support group and that helped me more than I can explain. The feeling of knowing those people understood was healing to me.
I suggest you look for one in your area and don't be scared, you don't have to talk if you don't want to.
Sending peace,
Tina
