My Mom passed away about 9 months ago, it was a tragic event that has changed my life as well as my brother and sister's and our childrens as well. My Mom was 55 years old, she had asthma and chronic bronchitis. One morning she woke up and realized she was in dire need of her asthma inhaler, but it was just about out. She had 3 of her grandkids at her home at the time, and asked my sister to run to town to pick up another inhaler. By the time my sister returned, my Mom was in full respritory failure, 911 was called and they took her to the hospital, placed her on life support, and then told us, after several tests were done, that she had sustained severe brain damage and would not recover. Being the oldest, I had to deal with the Dr.'s and the organ donor team. We stayed by her side for 3 days, they finally removed her from the life support, and we then stayed by her side for 3 more days. Our Mom came from a large family, and her siblings all flew or drove up to be with us during this horrific ordeal. My Mom never regained consciousness, but I feel that she was there with us, and I pray she was not afraid of passing on. We loved her dearly; she was the nicest person you could hope to meet, always there to cheer you up, always there to give you a bear hug! And how she loved Russel Crowe!!! I think of my Mom every day, I think about what she would say about our weather, or the latest gossip from Hollywood. I miss her so much, I will never be the same person, but I hope that her Spirit will stay close to mine, and I will feel her hugs forever.
